What is the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts?
A new non-profit organization that has formed to continue to serve the animals and people of our communities. The Mission is to operate an open admission animal care and adoption facility, with focus on prevention of cruelty to animals, education and outreach, low-cost spay/neuter programs and helping animals and people in the community.
Why is there a need to form the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts?
The MSPCA has been caring for animals in the Metro South region for decades and unfortunately will be closing on September 30, 2009 due to the challenging economy. The APCSM will lease the MSPCA facility in Brockton at no cost to continue this tradition of caring for thousands of animals each year.
Why is the MSPCA discontinuing shelter operations in Brockton?
In February 2009, the MSPCA announced the closure of three of their Animal Care and Adoption Centers due to the challenging economy. Contact the MSPCA at www.mspca.org for more information.
Where is the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts located?
The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusettshas secured an agreement to lease the current Metro South Animal Care and Adoption Center in Brockton.

What communities are served by the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts?
The Animal Protection Center will serve the towns and communities in the Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth counties.
Is the Brockton / Metro South Animal Care and Adoption Center now closed?
No! The MSPCA-Metro South Animal Care and Adoption Center remains open and is actively adopting animals and receiving surrenders until September 30, 2009 at 1300 West Elm St. Ext. in Brockton.
How is the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts supported financially?
The MSPCA is providing the adoption center facility to the APCSM at no cost. However the APCSM will be an independent non-profit organization, completely supported by the community. The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts has received the endorsement, from the MSPCA, as the entity they wish to continue animal sheltering at the Brockton facility.
Can the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts accept donations?
Yes! We welcome and greatly appreciate the early support from our community.

Will the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts receive funding from local, state or federal funding?
No. All support will come from caring individuals and businesses of the communities we serve.
Will the same staff and volunteers be running the shelter?
We are currently assessing the shelters staffing needs, and hope to have staff and staffing announcements soon. The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts looks forward to working with all of the current volunteers at the Metro South Adoption Center, and are always looking for more help.
Who is leading the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts?
The organization is managed by a board comprised of shelter volunteers, business professionals and animal care & health experts. This team brings animal welfare & treatment expertise along with the business skills necessary to create a caring and successful center.
How can the community help?
Financial donations are greatly appreciated to ensure that proper care is given to animals in need. Corporate and local business support through various sponsorship programs. Spread the word to friends and neighbors about the growing organization and their need for community support to thrive.

Join a committee to help advance the cause. Currently we have two exciting committees in action to address Fundraising events and the PR/Marketing of the shelter to the community.
Will the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts continue to hold special events?
Yes! Currently, planning is underway for a fundraising walk at Borderland State Park on October 11th.
There will also be other exciting events including a Grand Opening Celebration, Yard and Book, Bake & Beanie Baby sales along with events that promote animal safety and education. |
