Musings from the Smalls Room by Rudy
Snow! Again! I know we are all snug and warm in our little room and hope you are all enjoying the weather from inside too.
It is a little bit quieter around here, just four bunnies and seven piggies, oh and a cute hamster in the hallway. Now I don’t mind the quiet, but it is nice to have a constantly changing assortment of friends in the room and let’s face it most of us have been here for several months now. You kind of run out of things to talk about!
We do have two relatively new guinea pigs, Brady and Bruno, very handsome chaps, looking for a home together. And I have heard they are super friendly and love to be stroked whenever they are having their cage cleaned. Which is a bit unusual with pigs as most of them are not big fans of having someone reach in and pet them. They love it once you have hold of them, but most don’t just sit and let you give them a good back rub. Fudge is still out and about the room as soon as his cage door is opened for its morning clean, and now Slick is following his lead and adventuring out too. He made a great friend of the broom last week, as well as giving Oakley a quick kiss and chatting with Disco. It is very funny watching them scurry around the room on those little legs of theirs, exploring every nook and cranny.
Spring cleaning is still ongoing at the shelter, although I will have to check in with Graham (the hamster in the hallway) and see what updates he can give us for next week, as he has a way better view of what is going on than we do. We have puppies at the shelter again, which is always fun, if not a lot of work. The cat population is starting to grow, after having so few for several weeks it is kind of strange hearing the plaintive meow of a new feline guest. I am starting to get spring fever, the days are getting longer and I am itching to escape my pen here and move into a new home. As I mentioned before I am slightly larger than the other bunnies we currently have, but I am very friendly and happy to relax and sprawl out much like a cat would. I love treats, I mean who doesn’t, and am especially fond of toilet paper tubes stuffed with hay. Shout out for Disco, Peanut and Oakley all great looking smaller bunnies still searching for that new family.
