Musings from the Small’s Room by Rudy (a gigantic, lovable rogue)

Bet you thought we had all been adopted, due to the lack of writing for the past couple of weeks. Well, I am sorry to say that is not the case, we are still a merry band of 6 rabbits and 7 guinea pigs. I am going to let you in on a little secret, I don’t write these blogs alone! It is necessary for me to have a ghostwriter who kindly transcribes all I have to say so that you can all enjoy the daily comings and goings in our little room. Unfortunately, that ghost writer had a couple of things going on these past few weeks that have meant that our little blog had to take a tiny break, but now we are back.

Toffee recently found a home, if you didn’t see the video of him racing around the small’s room you missed a treat. We have another adventurous guinea pig, Fudge, he is also a bit of a wanderer and can often be found saying hello to everyone and checking that everything in the room is in order. We seem to have an abundance of Lionhead rabbits, in a variety of colors, all of them are very friendly and just can’t wait to find new homes. Snickers is our current longest resident, and he is also the youngest. Nice little chap, always looking for a treat, but also loves to hide inside his oatmeal tube, I suppose he is a lot smaller than I am so hiding inside of things is achievable for him, certainly not for me! I often hear him and Drumstick chatting away to each other through the bars of their adjoining cages.

Painting and redecorating is still going on, so our shelter will be all spruced up for the spring. I have heard news of open houses, bake sales, book sales, and plant sales, so it certainly is shaping up to be a busy start to the year. The snowstorm followed by an ice storm thankfully didn’t cause any lasting damage to our home, and we didn’t even lose power which is always great, as it can get a little chilly around here without the heat on! We had a sleepover with some of our favorite staff members, which is always a blast.

I heard on the grapevine that we have an uptick in the number of cats currently in residence … I don’t often hear the cats as the dogs certainly are noisier and are situated a lot closer to our room than the cats are. But we have heard the plaintive mewlings of a new resident, who hopefully won’t be here for too much longer.

On a final note NEWSPAPER and HAY. Yes, the never-ending ask for essential toileting supplies for me and my friends. I know what happens in the bathroom is not usually talked about in polite society, but we are currently seeking supplies of both to line our litter boxes with, and to eat! Which truthfully sounds gross now I said that out loud but yes, we do eat the hay we also pee on. Anyway, if you have a few extra papers laying around, or are out and about and could grab a bag of timothy hay that would be great. Just leave it by the front door and someone will make sure it gets where it needs to go. Lots of pictures to check out this week, my favorite has to be Disco that crazy bunny, always looking for food. One day he is going to get his nose stuck in those bars. And on a side note, some of the pictures were taken before our room/homes were cleaned, and yes, some of us really do make that much mess every day!!
